What is FairWild?

The FairWild Standard, owned by the FairWild Foundation, assesses the harvest and trade of wild plants against various ecological, social and economic requirements.

Why Fair?

Fair stands for the core criteria of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) such as good working conditions, no discrimination, health and safety. Also it introduces elements of fair trade to value chains of wild collected plant products, such as a fair price for collectors and the establishment of a Premium Fund. The FairWild Standard guarantees for Socio-Economic Sustainability.

Why Wild?

Wild stands for the ecological sustainability of wild plant collection operations. Wild plants deliver important raw materials for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, they are often harvested without any management, and over-exploitation is common. FairWild introduces a management system for sustainable wild collection, which guarantees for Ecological Sustainability.

This seminar deals with the following topics:

•  What does FairWild stand for and how did the standard develop?
•  Which are the underlying principles, criteria and indicators of the FairWild Standard?

Target groups are interested companies, consultants and competent authorities as well as the general public.

The seminar will be conducted by IMO wild collection expert Mr. Heiko Schindler.
