New guidance for auditing the FairWild Standard during COVID-19
June 2020 - As part of its response to the current COVID-19 situation, the FairWild Foundation has produced new guidelines for conducting audits against the FairWild Standard during the pandemic.
The guidance, which is applicable to audits carried out in 2020, acknowledges that travel restrictions, social distancing measures and other impacts of COVID-19 will affect audits carried out this year. Three options are therefore outlined for FairWild accredited Control Bodies on how to proceed with audits for currently certified operations:
A regular on-site audit, where possible and based on a risk assessment
A partly remote audit, with an on-site visit when the situation allows
A full remote audit, subject to approval by the FairWild Foundation
Auditing of new operations will be considered on a case by case basis.
In addition, increased flexibility will be allowed in the permitted uses and decision making processes for the FairWild Premium Fund during 2020.
